Rain and Shopping

Helllloooooo. Another wonderful day, filled with rain and clouds once again, but still fun :)  Tony picked us up around 9:30 and we started on our way to our first destination, Barron Falls. They are part of the Barron River, and are absolutely breathtaking! It was just a 15 minute walk through the forest to a beautiful lookout spot where you good look all the way down to the bottom of the falls. Much higher than the waterfall from yesterday. Then we moved on to Kuranda Village, right in the rainforest. Its a touristy destination with tons of cute shops and activities. Here I simply meandered through the shops, bought a slushie and some delicious fudge. It is probably where I will be buying all of your souvenirs ;) I saw aboriginal art worth $10,000! I want to go back again though and go on a tour through the Venom Zoo with the most venomous animals in Australia: snakes, scorpions, spiders. And there are bird and butterfly sanctuaries! We didn't get a chance to go through them today, but we will definitely be back!

Next we headed to Port Douglas! Another touristy, upscale area, where many celebrities are known to have visited, including Bill Clinton. It was market day so we went there first and toured the little tent shops. I got a cute leather bracelet for 5 bucks. Then we grabbed some lunch, for me a caesar salad, before walking through more shops and going down to the beach. Completely amazing of course. We walked over the rocks up to a lookout spot where we could see all the way down the beach to the mountains and look out over the ocean. After that we simply browsed around some more before heading back on the bus back to the lodge! Sounds so simple I know, but it was really just a day for being a tourist and sightseeing.

Oh and the zoo finally emailed me! There is an opening on Tuesdays in the reptile area!! More details to come!

Adios amigos!
